without the timer ... without the timer and with a wireless trigger that triggers the timer on the camera for your camera could get easy auto focus on your eyes, or instant shot without the timer... but when I did my self-portraits I use the wireless after I posed and shot the shutter on my wireless remote and dropped it on the carpet so I wouldn't mess with my pose? much.
For me, interval ... For me, interval timer? shooting is more effective, as I am free to pose while the camera fires away.
I highly recommend ... I highly recommend investing $20? in a wireless shutter trigger for self-portraits
You forgot one very ... You forgot one very cool and inexpensive way to instantly review your photos: Connect a monitor via HDMI cable. Many people have a monitor for their computer, that is HDMI or DVI capable (DVI can be adapted to HDMI without loss of quality), so there is only the cost of the cable from the camera to the monitor. Set your camera to auto-review pictures after shooting them. That's it. ... LiveView-capable cameras even usually send the live picture to the HDMI monitor.?

Programs like Light ... Programs like Light Room 3 allow you to shoot tethered? as well. You can have your monitor or laptop just out of frame to preview your shot and then use a wireless mouse to take your shots
